Your Child’s First Visit
We want your child to feel comfortable in the dental chair and confident about coming back. That’s why we’ve designed your visits to run smoothly and hassle-free.
Here’s what you and your child can expect:
Before the Visit
To help your child feel more excited and less stressed about going to the dentist, we ask that you help them prepare for their first visit.
For starters, just let them know in simple terms what to expect. For example, we’ll just brush their teeth and count how many teeth they have. We may even take some really cool pictures (X-rays) of their mouth.
The most important thing is to just reassure your child that this visit will be easy, short, and fun.
Fun Welcome
We want your child to feel safe and have fun at their dentist appointments.
To help them warm up to our office, we’ll do fun welcome activities like giving your child a playful “ride” in the exam chair and so they feel at home.
Comfortable Exam
To make exams feel less stressful for your child, we do our best to involve them (and you) in the process.
We’ll “count” your child’s teeth while checking for cavities and bite alignment, and we invite you to stay with your child if that will make them more comfortable.
For little ones under three, the exam may even take place knee-to-knee with you as they sit in your lap.
Digital Imaging
We may take X-rays, but only when they help us get a clearer picture of your child’s dental health.
